Smallburgh Village Fete and Flower Show
The event was held for the first time for 13 years on the village hall playing fields and to everyone's delight the weather was more than kind to us.
The day was made for the familiy. Entertainment provided from target bowls to ski ball, from the human fruit machine to hoopla, bowling for a real pig (in stone actually) a treasure hunt, bean bags, mini golf, darts, a very active tombola stall and many more.
Added to the fun of the games and competitions there was a live farm animal corner, a show of miniture horses, a large group of very smart vintage cars, a brewers dray horse and cart for rides, a musical equestrian event and a number of charity tents. This was all backed by traditional organ music.
In the village hall marquee were found a number of local craft stalls and a small but beautifully formed flower arrangement display created by all ages.
To top all this the tea room provided hot and cold drinks to wash down delicious home made cakes and strawberry cream teas.
In summary this very happy family event was enjoyed by all thanks to the unstinting efforts of all who helped up to and on the day, and all who donated the high quality prizes.
For those who were unfortunate to miss this year's fete, watch out for the next in June 2010!
